The Film Festival is these days auctioning off the graffiti-piece that was painted to the beats of DJ99 at the opening night. The money will go to the Afghan charity project Skateistan. The work is painted at wood panel, and a mounted 3D sculpture made from recycled wood. Size 240 cm x 200 cm.

Art project in Madeira, Portugal

In April 2011 Peacetu participated in an art project in Funchal. The project´s aim is to open the doors of Funchal to art and culture. They are “virtual doors” as well as they are old and forgotten doors of houses, shops and spaces now abandoned and decayed that gain new life. Filling these spaces is an action to raise awareness of art and culture in the old part of the city: Projeto Arte de Portas Abertas

Project Lacoste 2010

PEACETU was in 2010 contracted to participate in an unique art project -Evolução Francesa. Curated by LACOSTE the project´s aim is showing what’s fresh in fashion, music and art in the French-Brazilian cultural axis.

A workshop in Rio de Janeiro in May witnessed the meeting of the French cultural scene today with the Brazilian. Eight artists – three French, five Brazilians – gathered in a home-studio in Santa Teresa to create the expo Héritage, an creative experience between the two countries, inspired by the story of Rene Lacoste and its brand.

The result of this meeting is an exhibition comprised of artists from different disciplines, which together resulted in the heritage of LACOSTE contemporary concepts. From August until the end of 2010, these works will travel around Brazil at special events. The LACOSTE invite four Brazilian cities – Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Salvador – to check out the outcome of this mash-up between Brazil and France in a one-night event to be held in places dedicated to art.

Curated by botique Colette and the avant-garde fashion consultant Daniel Ueda, Héritage tells the story of LACOSTE under the gaze of contemporary art.

MUROS exhibition

muros exhibition

PEACETU recently participated in a group exhibition named MUROS in the contemporary art gallery Galeria Solar do Ferrao.

Located in the heart of the historical centre, Pelourinho, a group of 11 graffiti artists brought a piece of the Bahian capital´s walls onto to walls of a gallery:

Graffiti is an art form that arose in protest and managed to become a mass cultural phenomen, crossing social classes and ethnic differences all over the world. Production of contemporary graffiti is dynamic and ephemeral. At the exposition MUROS you will find artists that represent different generations and a variety of styles, that together provide an overview of what has been done in the streets of Salvador, since the 90´s. Feel free to experience the production of these artists who, despite of influence of New York graffiti, remain convinced of their Bahianity and their walls remain work of Brazil and the world.

Anderson AC, artist and curator

The expo Muros lasted from the 19th of September until the 8th of November, 2009. See pictures:
